The Girl in the Red Redcoat
she put her red slicker on
while the parade passed by
on that black and white night
as the pawns kept marching
in a straight line, keeping time
with the metronome...ticking
she hid under a pink umbrella
glancing from under the vinyl
as the raindrops flooded her big eyes
with untimely teardrops...she sobs
the moisture slides down her cheeks
boots on cobblestones...keep marching
she hears the chatter of mockingbird
with white-tipped wings..squawking
waving a black flag in the morning
as the horns blare of in the distant
she'll be safe under her umbrella
letting the teardrops puddle
splashing them with rubbers
and hiding in her red slicker
while world turns black-n-white
while the parade passed by
on that black and white night
as the pawns kept marching
in a straight line, keeping time
with the metronome...ticking
she hid under a pink umbrella
glancing from under the vinyl
as the raindrops flooded her big eyes
with untimely teardrops...she sobs
the moisture slides down her cheeks
boots on cobblestones...keep marching
she hears the chatter of mockingbird
with white-tipped wings..squawking
waving a black flag in the morning
as the horns blare of in the distant
she'll be safe under her umbrella

splashing them with rubbers
and hiding in her red slicker
while world turns black-n-white
