What to believe

Nothing in life is clear
Or even close to certain
More than just one way
To look beyond the curtain

Left is the same as right
Right is the same as wrong
Because it's all up in your mind
None of it was real along

We give names to what is nameless
We give order to the wild
And at the very end
We teach it to a child

But the truth feels like a lie
And your heart is tricked by it
Told what you will do
For your story's already writ

Can't break these chains that bind you
Afraid to see beyond the wall
So awake but yet asleep
One step and you fall

This isn't a conspiracy
It's just a fact of life
So lost in the maze
And can't find a light

They give you an answer
Try to tell you what's real
But its all a cover up
To forget what you feel

I want inner peace
But I'm too far gone
Nowhere for me to go
Because I don't belong

I write what I believe
But never am simple
I'm a man all alone
My mind is my temple

Nature calls your name
But you can't hear the voice
Something to change
We don't have a choice

I'm not perfect
I'm extremely flawed
And treated like a failure
The names I've been called

Most don't understand me
As I always think
Wishing for utopia
But instead we all sink

This world is broken
So can we repair
The bricks that have fallen
Do you really care

I'm angry and frustrated
Because I am a freak
My message not understood
As all turn a cheek
