Comin' down � � �
Taste you in my mind � � �
And spread you all around.... � � �

�a splendid day� � � �

�....your reaction to the �gifts� � � �
absolutely blew me away � � �

my �special� day, indeed � � � �
I so badly wanted it to be yours � � �
longing to fulfill your every need of � � �

me..... � � �
� � � �
feels like heaven � � �
� � � �
�...the way you made me smile � � �
we hung around outside � � � �
and we just talked for awhile � � �
and right on cue, � � � �
fate held the right cards; she knew exactly just what to do �
in the moment � ........� �

......you called me �friend� and my reply, "I Love You" � � �
� � � �
there in the cool of the night � � �
you hugged me � � � �
and we squeezed each other tight � � �
for a moment inside this � � �
pandemic existence, everything just seemed right � � �

echoed whispers � � �
there beneath the moon and the stars � � � �
you spoke, � � � �
� � � �
�I love you, love you, love you....� � � �

In my mind � � �
and right before my eyes � � �
the universe is realigned � � �

for you and I � � �
� � � �
helping her into her car � � �
I touched her hand as she drove � � �
off into the night......be still my beating heart � � �

�.....the blue light was my baby, and the red light was my mind� � � �

�Under the moon and over the sky�............I lay you down � � �
upon the cool green Autumn grass � � �
the union of our kindred spirits � � �
making love at long last � � �
the heavens and the earth illuminate, � � �
the glow of the pale moonlight � � �
cast shadows upon our wonder � � �

�let no man, no woman put asunder......� � �
� � � �
wrapped inside each other, � � � �
holding each other �for dear life � � �
as the trembling starts to subside � � �
at long last we release our � � �
visions of love made into the night sky � � �

�� parlayed into an intimate memory of you, my beautiful �friend�

Author's Note

.....an autobiographical sketch that reads more like a short story than a poem. A memory of a Monday night past with a friend that may have changed a 20 year relationship in the twinkling of an eye.

Most of my friends and followers know I'm a musician so it will come as no surprise that there are a few musical inflections within this cross-cultural creation including:
