Venture a Highway
(For old souls always young at heart)
Not sure why there is nostalgia
For days long gone
and for some of us...never lived
Driving the open road
The wind
Freedom and endless possibilities ahead
Perhaps it’s the harmonies
Echoing from a timeless era
Taking us down some memory lane
Venture a highway
With open heart
Reminiscent of simpler but happier days
Maybe that’s why we’re sentimental
We long to get lost in innocence and youth
Like counting cars passing by
Or falling stars across the sky
With little or no worries on our minds
Those were some wonderful times

Growing up I always thought it was "venture a highway". Many years later I found out it was "Ventura Highway" - America.

Thank you very much for the comment. I think sometimes artists do this on purpose, but I remember being young and picturing images from the lyrics. Now at my age, the song does filled me with memory and nostalgia.

I love the lyric mixup... That happened all the time growing up, taping songs off the radio... haha... Still does, today but not as bad.... I remember thinking how freaking cool it was the the lyrics were finally being printed inside the cassette tape's 'liner notes'... haha...
Loved the feel and emotions that emanate...

Opening the cassette tapes and going over every single detail was always a favorite of mine. Or if we didn't have the cassette tape, we'd wait for the song to come on the radio and record it, then going back and writing the lyrics ourselves and have long discussions with our friends as to who got it right.
Fun times.

I loved this song, always used to be on the radio, back before the internet it was so easy to get song titles mixed up :)

It's really interesting how the internet has changed radio too (like the old song, TV killed the radio star), you can now go directly and find those specific songs. I just think that radio stations and DJs played a very emotional part of our upbringing, the concerts to go to, the music that we identified with. But this song always seems to transport me.
You mean ' Video killed the radio star' ha ha, ventura highway always reminded me of my Nanas kitchen and her soft rock station, miss those too. Btw check out lost45.com, it's a syndicated radio show that I get out here but you can listen online I think, congrats!

Simpler, yes, but also harder.
I endeavor to embrace gratitude and humility every day, in order to avoid romanticizing the past.

You are right about the harder part. I also tend to look back at harder times and think of how they shaped me and helped me to learn. I think I approached those lines more along the innocent youth, coming of age, discovering the world and how different it all was back then.
I was exposed to great music early on and it really makes for great memories as I get older.
