I think they’re interrelated; one a precursor that oft leads to the other.

I think I'd tend to agree. If you have intimacy, sex can be incredible. Without it, it may be more of a chore. Though I think sex may often be misused, mistaken for intimacy, while real intimacy remains unknown. But don't ask me to delve deeper into that thought. My experiences fall short.
