POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I just write.
Dawn
Love,
The midnight hour
Has not yet gone
Though my kisses
Have barely begun
And may well yet
Linger till dawn
To see you beam
As the sun
The midnight hour
Has not yet gone
Though my kisses
Have barely begun
And may well yet
Linger till dawn
To see you beam
As the sun

Love,
You are the sweet ripple
Of morning breeze,
Through the aspen leaves;
You are the lilt of Autumn rain,
And a rich breath of petrichor;
You are the lilac in the field,
You are the touch of elegance;
You are my wild treasure;
You make my soul dance,
And you make my heart soar.
You are the sweet ripple
Of morning breeze,
Through the aspen leaves;
You are the lilt of Autumn rain,
And a rich breath of petrichor;
You are the lilac in the field,
You are the touch of elegance;
You are my wild treasure;
You make my soul dance,
And you make my heart soar.

Stranger
She said:
‘Hey, stranger.’
And I turned,
Caught off guard;
Saw her,
And for a brief moment,
The valley of my regret
Bloomed with
Beautiful memory.
‘Hey, stranger.’
And I turned,
Caught off guard;
Saw her,
And for a brief moment,
The valley of my regret
Bloomed with
Beautiful memory.

Beam
Her smile
Glowed
On a new-moon night,
And since then
The darkened sky
Has known no light
Glowed
On a new-moon night,
And since then
The darkened sky
Has known no light

Prelude
Some nights I watch
As you bow your head,
Perhaps in reverent prayer,
And I’m taken by the
Stark wonder of
The moonlight in your hair;
And terribly gently
You lift your gaze
To softly draw in mine,
And I’m thrust into
The storm and waves
Of something so divine;
The brush of your smile
Upon this old soul,
Its wonderment
Dares me be whole;
A most timid kiss
It may yet be,
Though it ripples on
Through eternity.
As you bow your head,
Perhaps in reverent prayer,
And I’m taken by the
Stark wonder of
The moonlight in your hair;
And terribly gently
You lift your gaze
To softly draw in mine,
And I’m thrust into
The storm and waves
Of something so divine;
The brush of your smile
Upon this old soul,
Its wonderment
Dares me be whole;
A most timid kiss
It may yet be,
Though it ripples on
Through eternity.

Seoul
Oh, my Seoul,
From a distance,
Monochrome;
A single way, and
A thousand miles, and
At times this bridge
Seems a thousand miles
To me,
Though right next door,
This painfully familiar
DMZ.
Give me Yeosu,
Where the waves are gentle on the shore;
Or some Hanok Village,
Where I might momentarily forget
My every
Heavy, stark regret;
But no,
I can’t resist the song
Welling up within my Seoul;
And while I Can’t
(Necessarily) Stop Me,
Oh, sweet...
From a distance,
Monochrome;
A single way, and
A thousand miles, and
At times this bridge
Seems a thousand miles
To me,
Though right next door,
This painfully familiar
DMZ.
Give me Yeosu,
Where the waves are gentle on the shore;
Or some Hanok Village,
Where I might momentarily forget
My every
Heavy, stark regret;
But no,
I can’t resist the song
Welling up within my Seoul;
And while I Can’t
(Necessarily) Stop Me,
Oh, sweet...

Voice
Around you,
My voice is…
Different.
Shaky;
Hesitant;
Uncertain;
Not because I think
You are too fragile.
But,
Because I know
You are wild,
And dangerous,
And worth
Much more
Than I can ever offer.
My voice is…
Different.
Shaky;
Hesitant;
Uncertain;
Not because I think
You are too fragile.
But,
Because I know
You are wild,
And dangerous,
And worth
Much more
Than I can ever offer.

Thoughts
I’m a thundercloud on the hillside,
And she’s a calm and gentle lily;
I’m a dog-eared Reader’s Digest,
She’s a volume of timeless poetry;
I’m a fast food burger with a side of fries,
She’s a four-course meal with a glass of wine;
I think the world of her,
And that is fine.
But somehow…
She thinks the world of me;
And that must be divine.
And she’s a calm and gentle lily;
I’m a dog-eared Reader’s Digest,
She’s a volume of timeless poetry;
I’m a fast food burger with a side of fries,
She’s a four-course meal with a glass of wine;

And that is fine.
But somehow…
She thinks the world of me;
And that must be divine.

Alone
Mine is naught but an old soul,
Quietly begging to be known;
Wearing the casual front of a smile,
To mask the dread of being alone.
Quietly begging to be known;
Wearing the casual front of a smile,
To mask the dread of being alone.

October
I’ve been down, tonight
At river’s edge,
Where the leaves of trees
Are growing gold;
And I wonder, to myself,
If I’ve any pledge,
To ask of those sentries
The task of growing old.
At river’s edge,
Where the leaves of trees
Are growing gold;
And I wonder, to myself,
If I’ve any pledge,
To ask of those sentries
The task of growing old.
