Locked Out
You unlocked the parts of me
That I enclosed so cautiously
Like a folded paper letter
A handwritten treasure in a drawer
Dusting my secrets off with grace
And a smile
Unfolding without tearing
You held me delicately
And I trusted your intricacy
With exploring
The parts of me you unlocked
Started rusting
My cries happened abruptly
The kind of tears that fall heavy, trickle slowly
And despite my attempts to rid the pain quickly
My voice was softly slow
As if afraid to be heard
Now, I am a naked statue
Frozen for your rejecting eyes
Now, I am locked out when you look
But captured in your shadow
When you turn away.
That I enclosed so cautiously
Like a folded paper letter
A handwritten treasure in a drawer
Dusting my secrets off with grace
And a smile
Unfolding without tearing
You held me delicately
And I trusted your intricacy
With exploring
The parts of me you unlocked
Started rusting
My cries happened abruptly
The kind of tears that fall heavy, trickle slowly
And despite my attempts to rid the pain quickly
My voice was softly slow
As if afraid to be heard
Now, I am a naked statue
Frozen for your rejecting eyes
Now, I am locked out when you look
But captured in your shadow
When you turn away.
