The Bells of San Gimignano

The Bells chime
Their sound sublime
Reminiscing of a past time

Tang, clang, tang

Olive trees sway
Lining the way
Where the hill lay

Tang, clang, tang

Dotted with brush
A countryside lush
With the call of a thrush

Tang, clang, tang

Wind rustles the trees
Their leaves wave with ease
floating on the gentle breeze

Tang, clang, Tang

The old towers stand tall
Leaning as if they may fall
They guard against all

Tang, clang, tang

Rippling in the sunset
Is the crumbling silhouette
Of a city now beset

Tang, clang, tang

The bells lay silent
These towers now ancient
Their sound incoherent
