The Bells of San Gimignano
The Bells chime
Their sound sublime
Reminiscing of a past time
Tang, clang, tang
Olive trees sway
Lining the way
Where the hill lay
Tang, clang, tang
Dotted with brush
A countryside lush
With the call of a thrush
Tang, clang, tang
Wind rustles the trees
Their leaves wave with ease
floating on the gentle breeze
Tang, clang, Tang
The old towers stand tall
Leaning as if they may fall
They guard against all
Tang, clang, tang
Rippling in the sunset
Is the crumbling silhouette
Of a city now beset
Tang, clang, tang
The bells lay silent
These towers now ancient
Their sound incoherent
