Ivy

Thought it was impossible
Maybe even debatable
that a mothers love could grow
Since it's inevitable
I wrote this song
'cause I wanted you to know

My love's like ivy
Growing higher
than the tallest tree
My love's like ivy
Imperfect vines sprouting
hundreds of leaves

My heartbeat goes on
even when I'm gone.
My heartbeat goes on
when you play this song

Few years have gone by
my beautiful baby girl
Had to teach you to be strong
in this cold frozen world
My little queen
I've taught you everything
You're one tough cookie
just like me

My love's like ivy
Growing higher
than the tallest tree
My love's like ivy
Imperfect vines sprouting
hundreds of leaves

Your heartbeat goes on
even when I'm gone
Our heartbeat goes on
when you play our song

Author's Note
I wrote this for if and when I have a daughter. But life didn't turn out that way.
I am a proud mother of 2 boys. LOL But I am very close to my mother so this is for her and all the mother- daughter duos out there.
