Under the pale veil of dark
of an aria's contralto
from a cup of caffeine's insomnia
feeling the grain of the wood
like tears of the banister's wax
echoing silence of sagging night socks
on the grave's minuet
dripping the last drop
from eyes of a chameleon's relish
