Comforting is Trying

I know that she is suffering
her well made plans gone awry
It's all there in her texts
wish I could hold her for this cry

Circumstance has us apart
  not our hearts, it's only miles
I send words that make her laugh
   give her temporary smiles

This misfortune that she bears
   of emotion from a mix
I envision her lips a'quiver
   it is nothing I can fix

It's just another hurdle
   eventually she'll clear
Her determination awes me
   and rubs off it would appear

I've never felt so grounded
   though still I fluctuate
I keep her in my thoughts
   as patiently I wait

I wait for her next message
   think of how to phrase a hug
To comfort her with tenderness
   and sweep her tears under a rug
