Alone Beside the Cabin Campfire

Nature repeats its call for hours
The frogs croak, and
something mysterious showers your ears
Wood crackles as sun-deep,
orange coals draw you in
Staring at them feels like years
Crickets orchestrate
as fireflies show off their souls
A lone plane breaks
the cloudy night sky
Lightning flashes in the distance
as a lone bird sings a lullaby
And you wait for life
to make sense
