Image for the poem Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls

Victoria is bustling
cars, and tourists pass
Smoking outside the Inn
deja vu of the past

We ate across the street
mildly spicy Hakka cuisine
I sit, and people watch
people out of quarantine

The older casino strobes dance
eighty fell in a slot
Thought about going back
she definitely did not

I was treated here once
by a woman who said the word love
I didn't reciprocate
what we had was enough

My ex, the kids, and I came here
saw the birds, and butterflies
Rode a lady up to the falls
got mist in our eyes

Somehow, I'm at the same motel
she booked randomly
I'll go in when I'm done this poem
use the word, tenderly
