Fireknight
There once reigned a warrior,
A Princess of flame
Who danced in the halls
of Shadow's domain
She worked every hour
She shown through the day
And when night fell upon them
She guided their way.
The fire and shadow
Worked well together
To protect all their people
And make the world better
But the dark knight was fickle
And wanted the power
So drove off the Princess
From her open-sky tower
Now she is fleeing
But shadow always finds
For unlike the darkness
Light always shines
Unaware of her gifts
She gives into despair
How could her friend betray her?
What happened to all his care?
Her fire begins to die
As she is bound away,
She closes her eyes and gives up
So darkness takes the day
Locked in the dark
Full of alarm
Embraced and restrained
by iniquity's arms
She grows cold with with her fear
She can't find the heat to fight
She can't draw from her flame
To infuse this darkness with the light
As she shivers with the cold
A soft sound she hears
And sees a boy in the dark
Masking his fears
She is taken aback
At the frightened eyes full of tears
And is saddened further as
The loss in her soul, the child's eyes mirrors
He shrinks away
In fear of this sight,
At the beautiful flame
Dressed in flickering light
“Who are you?”
He calls out to the dark
And watches her eyes
As the fading light sparks
“I am nobility
I am the flame,
I am hope
Given a name.”
He watches in wonder
As her light grows anew
With every declaration
She reclaims something she knew
But with knowledge comes sorrow
As she realizes she gave in,
She let down her people
She allowed evil to win
But the boy gives her hope
and move from his spot,
Stunned by the beauty
Of the tear that he caught.
He was no longer afraid
Of this gentle firefly
But curious instead
To see a flame cry
Her gaze caught the boy,
This warrior she had found
And knew in her heart
To his hope she was bound
They rose together
Ready to fight
For this night needed to end
To make way for the light
A Princess of flame
Who danced in the halls
of Shadow's domain
She worked every hour
