Rock and Roll Died
I've gotta fire in my soul
For good old rock'n'roll
But I hardly ever hear it anymore
The guitars are mostly gone
But in my heart they live on
What I hear nowadays I mostly abhor
Modern music is so bland
It's gotten out of hand
So one dimensional it puts me to sleep
Musicians are a thing of the past
Nothing I hear will ever last
Most of it should be buried dark and deep
I crave the Eagles or Fleetwood Mac
AC/DC or Sabbath I'd take back
ZZ Top or Aerosmith could blow you away
Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart
The Beegees, Genesis or CCR
I'd take Boston or Journey any day
Name me one musician from this age
Compare them to Clapton or Page
Mark Knopfler or Carlos Santana
Eddie Van Halen and his boys
Foreigner or Pink Floyd
Springstein wearing his bandana
Either Lynyrd Skynyrd or Led Zeppelin
Could pump you full of adrenalin
Van Morrison could sing a soulful tune
The Allman Brothers or Molly Hatchet
Played as good as the south could get
To have any of those back and I'd be over the moon
Yeah, I miss my old rock and roll
Somehow today's music ain't got the soul
But maybe that type of music will return
Still, until there comes that day
The radio I'll put away
And the tunes of today I'll burn
For good old rock'n'roll
But I hardly ever hear it anymore
The guitars are mostly gone
But in my heart they live on
What I hear nowadays I mostly abhor
Modern music is so bland
