Famous Woes

I agree 100%...nothing irritates me more than celebrities bitching...about anything!
Personally, I think illegally downloading is justifiable, especially when it comes to movies / music that has such low levels of exposure it might disappear--Think Jess Franco or other creators that were never profitable enough for their labels to get to broader circulation.
For those folks, it's how their work can remain alive.

That's how i feel about it. Not saying the industry doesn't have it's problems, but i think those problems are because of the companies. They take most of the profits then act like there is none for the artist. It's the system that is abusive to the starving artist.

I like this poem and I get what you mean, that those artists that have millions of dollars shouldn't complain and bitch about people online file sharing their work... However, I am one who misses actual record/music stores and the ability to go and flip through all of the different albums all-in-one physical place... Where and when artists used to actually make money on their albums... Now, because of the way music is listened to, the only way they really make big money is on tour.... I mean, sure they have deals they've all made with the various streaming services.. iTunes, Spotify, etc... but their ability to make millions off of album sales has definitely taken an enormous hit... You have someone like Billie Eilish, she and her brother were uploading their songs they wrote in their book bedroom, to SoundCloud, for crying out loud and that's how she got discovered, I believe .... It's a brave new world of possibilities and the old school musicians, I think we're thrown for a loop for several years, as to how to go about maintaining their control and making similar money.... I mean, I remember downloading so many songs from Napster when it was new, it was just crazy.. hahahaha.... I was totally a culprit... I looked at it as no different than recording a song off of the radio on to a cassette tape, like I used to do when I was little... on a much larger scale...  

Anyway, I'm rambling... Really awesome thought provoking, piece, DC.... I probably veered way off course... lol... I do agree, that it seems. like greed is responsible for destroying all that shit that was good from back in the day...

I feel the fans get the blunt of the blame when really these record companies put music on itunes and Spotify and take the larger cut of the profits. I never really bought into the idea that file sharing was as big a problem as they make it out to be. I more think it falls a lot on these companies that saw a opportunity to low ball the artist. Much like amazon.

But yes, nothing beats the old days.
