The World In Her Head
She stands alone with a broken key,
Hope a distant memory.
Lips sewn shut, Wounds wide open,
It’s obvious to all that she is broken.
Her lucid eyes are dull with pain,
As the devil softly calls her name
“Come closer, Death awaits,
Nothing brighter is your fate”
Glistening among her blood and tears,
Is the crumbling skeleton of her fears.
Her sharpened tongue is lost for words,
As it tries to justify her wretched curse.
She tried to be good, She tried to be fair,
So how is it that she ended up here?
Trembling thoughts recoil in her head,
As she reflects on the words said.
“I am fine, I am okay”
Why did she lie, anyway?
Perhaps if not she could be saved,
But it’s been too long, it’s far too late.
Enveloped in the gloss of night,
She’s left alone to face her plight.
Tortured by demons who beckon her-
She’s stuck within a mental slur.
Locked within her own fair skin,
Her greatest foe hides within.
It’s her own mind that went insane,
And tossed her in this wretched place.
A swirling mist of all the worlds sorrow-
A place without remembrance of the past,
Or hope for tomorrow.
With a bleak whimper of “I’d be better off dead”
She sums up this world within her head.
She takes a rope ‘round her throat,
With a final apology of “l cannot cope”
And with a snap of bone, she is dead,
Freed from the world within her head.
And Satan catches her fractured soul,
And all those lies take their toll.
Now she rots alone once more,
With some time in hell to endure.
Hope a distant memory.
Lips sewn shut, Wounds wide open,
