Written on my soul

Some poems
are written
with pen and paper
in the light of day.
Other poems
are written on my soul
when the night is so thick
no light will pierce it.
They all come from the same place
and must be written
either easily or through hard labor
with trembling and tears
ink the color of blood
waiting for dawn
to reveal what was written
the night before.
Often I am scared to look
and fold it away
to look at another day
when I am feeling stronger.

I think the idea of alternative forms of poetry is interesting and perhaps why poetry, itself, resonates on such a deep level. Poetry written on the soul seems to me to be the purest form of poetry. And sorrowfully, it seems to me, most things that deal with the soul are dark in nature. Maybe because the soul is light based and the thing that most defines it and reminds it of itself could only ever be... darkness.
I know that for me I have been most inspired by the darkness and actually prefer the darkness. What would I be without it? It is very peculiar... My greatest perceived hindrance is my greatest inspiration.
Like being blessed with curses. Just so many paradoxes. I once had this thing I called the divine paradox. It was like a symbol that was a mantra that was a magical spell.
Nevertheless... I very much liked this write and found it beautiful in it's ability to extract beauty from all things!
