Beggar

Begging on street corners            
borrowing with greed              
pockets turned inside out              
skin crawling with need              
              
lust, avarice, and hate              
his daily bread              
the world owes him more              
so he takes what he's due              
sacrificing humanity              
on the alter of his desires              
               
no deals to be struck              
no bargains can be made            
to fill his empty cup              
and ease his constant pain            
             
with this endless ache               
he drowns his hurt with rage              
despising the hollowness inside              
pain and anger drives him              
and becomes his whole              
             
"spare change"              
"spare change" repeats              
the beggar to blind to see
