Unavoidable
Thoughts I could never express
Resurfaced again
Revealing my deepest regret
That I've tried to come to terms with
And there's no way to pour out my heart
To someone who's broken it more than once
This reality I want to avoid
Has become my greatest illusion
Why is he so beautiful
When he is full of corruption
I see the poison that flows in his veins
And chose to love him
Somehow it made it's way to me
Lurking in the back of my mind
I used to be able to shut it off
But no
Not this time

This is absolutely my kind of poem! Beautifully evocative language, and it highlights some of the paradoxes of humans. So often, we love people and things that aren't good for us, unfortunately. But that's life.
