Your smell lingers
Honeysuckle blossoms in my garden
Do not smell as sweet
As the scent of your hardened
Body when we meet
To be wrapped in your arms
I, lush and in bloom
Envelop me in your charms
For this affair will end too soon
And like so many others
I will reminisce at the thought
Nights spent with my lover
His body, strong and taut
I will wear a flower in my hair
To remind me of a time
Hours spent without a care
Ignoring all the signs
That I would never call you mine
Like water through my fingers
Ours was just a moment in time
And yet your scent lingers
Do not smell as sweet
As the scent of your hardened
Body when we meet
To be wrapped in your arms
I, lush and in bloom
Envelop me in your charms
For this affair will end too soon
And like so many others
I will reminisce at the thought
Nights spent with my lover
His body, strong and taut
I will wear a flower in my hair
To remind me of a time
Hours spent without a care
Ignoring all the signs
That I would never call you mine
Like water through my fingers
Ours was just a moment in time
And yet your scent lingers
