dance with me
a chain-verse poem
come into my life and take a sip:
sip the flavor of my elegance—
elegance to woo you from the lip,
from the lip, down to the hips that dance.
dance with me awhile and let me see,
see the measure of your pirouette.
pirouette into love’s filigree,
filigree you shall not soon forget.
forget not the scars upon my brow:
brow-to-brow, we contemplate the threats—
threats you know alone, alone i know,
no one half-prepared to face regrets.
face regrets, if they can help you heal;
heal the wounds of others and yourself,
and yourself a worthy cause shall seal,
seal a treasure greater than vain wealth.

Thank you, Ljdynamic; because you are already a dancer, you integrated into the step seamlessly.
Did you notice I was taking a spin-off from you? Instead of using chain rhyme, I used chain verse, keeping the rhymes at the end of my lines.
I once ran a competition on front rhymes: are you familiar with that genre?

I am not familiar with front rhymes. Is that like just rhymes in the beginning of the sentence?

First, I am going to teach you the octet -- tonight; and then I will give you a link to my front rhyme competition, which closed long ago.
Yes, the rhymes come at the beginning of lines, instead of at the end. It's quite exditing.

That final stanza is beautifully golden, Cab. When we heal ourselves we do, indeed, heal others. Truly loved and enjoyed this offering. Life is a dance to be enjoyed by both parties equally.

You are truly a masterful and unique dancer with words and such wonderful structures. A beautiful expression of love, healing, and trials in the dance of life.

Your words are kind and encouraging, especially coming from a creative soul such as you.
Want to know the truth about dancing? When I was a little boy, I used to dance with my older sister when there was a dance or fair, and we were so "with it" that everyone else would stop dancing and just watch us perform.
Right now, I don't remember how to dance! I guess my words do far better on paper than my feet on the dancefloor.
I can tell that you, on the other hand, have both the intellectual/literary dance moves and the acrobatic shin-dig ones.
