Prince of Wales
Magpie sits on a highest branch
of an evergreen tree
ruffles her feathers black as soot
her ebony eye staring..
watching
out for the last sunbeam
to cascade across the glade
upon his head he wears crown
made of bullrushes and twigs
clothing woven from stinging nettles
his twisted bread ends in a point
proclaiming titles to be his own
Welshman with a welsh heart of stone
cutting coppers and jawbones
magpie spreads her ivory tipped wings
chirps excitedly as she sings
as the sun glistens upon the hills
as Owain Glyndŵr rides high
upon his steed again
the true Prince of Wales
of an evergreen tree
ruffles her feathers black as soot
her ebony eye staring..
watching
out for the last sunbeam
to cascade across the glade
upon his head he wears crown
made of bullrushes and twigs
clothing woven from stinging nettles
his twisted bread ends in a point
proclaiming titles to be his own
Welshman with a welsh heart of stone
cutting coppers and jawbones
magpie spreads her ivory tipped wings
chirps excitedly as she sings
as the sun glistens upon the hills
as Owain Glyndŵr rides high
upon his steed again
the true Prince of Wales
