pianoforte
was her soul—
an attitude to etudes
that trembled
before her
finger-wooing cortège.
compliant
chopinistic
nuances
made of evenings
ebon fire
that melted stoics
in front-row
leather-covered
armchairs,
triple-encore
appeasement
scattering
upended roses
at the altar
as keys
fall quietly back
into night slumber
under their
air-locked
velvet-pampered
lid.

Sorry I missed your kind and generous compliment; that one slipped by me, so that I am only now responding. It was a difficult time, though, to lose someone who had such invaluable impact on my student musicianship days, at the Jamaica School of Music.

You always seem to understand the very depths of sentiments expressed by others. Sorry I missed responding earlier; I suppose the impact was that great, to lose someone with who I worked for over 13 years and one whose influence on my earlier musical education was significant.
Her departure was sudden and unepected.
