20/20 Vision

holding morals close to the chest
I peeked behind the curtain years ago
but sometimes I regret it
wish I could go back
to the days when I could converse
without views seeming so personal
got to play it coy
can't simply say murder is wrong
now we have defenses for evil
it's easy to make a point
but when I do their voices get louder
trying to seem more intelligent
when that won't work
that's when the name calling starts
but I just stay silent
for I know one thing is always true
the truth can't be twisted
changed with big words
can't convince me of what I already know
what my eyes see clearly
so there it is again
them talking to me as if this time I'll see
right is now wrong
and wrong is now right
but I do see
they talk not to convince me
they talk to convince themselves
