To You As Me
You are the sun
I pirouette in circles around you
I am a diamond
Shattered into a thousand colors
Laid out on the floor
A reflection of the energy I saw
Burn down
What's forever
Show how
In the moment
Red has never been so loud
And my blue has never felt so bold
Touching you
Touching me
Touching hands
In the car at a traffic stop
The streetlights cast your shadow
Underneath my skin
You are the wind
I sway and chime along your currents
I am a robin
Flattered and for certain
Head leaned to the right
Thoughts mysterious as they are to you and me
Slow down
Watch the moon rise
Show how
It's a promise
Violet is basking on the roof
And my yellow is a Sunday afternoon
Holding you
Holding me
Holding hands in the apartment parking lot
She’s quiet as the morning
I’ll dance to you
Free as me
Like a parody of love as it was spoken
Into being, I could see waking up next to you
All night long I could see waking up next to you
I pirouette in circles around you
I am a diamond
Shattered into a thousand colors
Laid out on the floor
A reflection of the energy I saw
Burn down
What's forever
Show how
In the moment
Red has never been so loud
And my blue has never felt so bold
Touching you
Touching me
Touching hands
In the car at a traffic stop
The streetlights cast your shadow
Underneath my skin
You are the wind

I am a robin
Flattered and for certain
Head leaned to the right
Thoughts mysterious as they are to you and me

Show how
