Breaking Free

Parker swallowed hard as she walked over to her stepdad. This was the bad feeling she had. He found out she didn’t come home Saturday night. Fucking Cameras. She thought looking up at him nervously.
“Where the hell were you Saturday night?” He asked.
“I…I was here at home.” She whispered looking up at him.
Brock shook his head before standing up and shoving her face down on her bed. Parker cried out and tried pulling away from him.
“Do you want to try that answer again Parker?” He hissed.
      “I was here Sir.”
Crack!
Brock’s hand made contact with her thighs. Parker cried out as pain shot through her body. Pulling her up to face him, he grabbed her by the jaw forcing her to look him in the eye.
“The cameras show that you left Saturday and didn’t return until Sunday morning. Now where the fuck were you at Parker?”
“I spent the night at a friends house.”
Parker didn’t even see the next blow coming but when it contacted her face, she hit the hardwood. She cried out and tried crawling away from him. Brock grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the standing position.
“Please no! Brock stop.” She sobbed.
      Whack!
Crying out as the tingling came to the other side of her face. Parker stare dup at her stepdad terrified.
“You are not allowed to spend the night at people’s houses.” Brock yelled.
Another blow hit her nose. Blood came almost instantly, as Parker shook her head as she tried to get away from him.
      Smack!
      Slap!
Brock hit her face repeatedly back and forth. Crying out she tried and tried to break his grasp. She needed to get this to stop.
“Help! Help me!” Parker cried out even though she knew no one would come to her aid.
“Who’s going to help you? Your mother?” Brock chuckled.
      “Please…stop...”
Another blow landed across her nose. That’s enough! Parker thought before she kicked him in the groin which caused him to let go of her and fall to the ground. As she went to run away, he grabbed her ankle and twisted it hard. Parker fell to the floor again cracking her forehead. Holding in her cries, she fought against his grasp. Landing another kick on Brock’s face, she almost had broken free. He pulled her towards him, Brock wrapped his hands around her throat choking her. Fear raced through Parker mind as air left her lungs.
      “I…can’t…breathe…” She gasped.
“You think you can kick me Parker!”
      “Please…”
Parker pulled against his arms, but they wouldn’t budge. Then she went for his face trying to make him release the vice around her neck. That when she saw the lamp on the table directly above her. Using all the strength she had left, she reached for the lamp.
“I’ve been nothing but good to you!” He roared.
      “Broc…. Brock…” She croaked.
      “You ungrateful little bitch.”
      “Sto…op...”
With one final ounce of strength, Parker shoved herself forward. Grasping the lamp, she brought it down on Brock’s head as hard as she could. Brock grunted before crumpling to the floor unconscious. Gasping and coughing as air rushed back into her lungs, Parker stared in complete shock. What have I done? Have I done? Her mind was racing. I need to get out of this place. Wheezing and pain shooting through her she got up from the floor. Quickly, she pulled on the pair of yoga and grabbed her duffle bag filling it with various clothes. Leaving the room, she didn’t even take a second glance at her stepdad. She made her way to Kenzie’s bedroom stumbling and falling twice. Her heart was racing. What if I killed him? She thought. Filling Kenzie’s diaper bag with as many outfits and diapers as she could make fit in there, her lungs still burned. Coughing and panting she lifted her sleeping baby out of the crib and got her in the car seat. Making her way down the stairs, she noticed Bethany passed out on the couch in the living room. Thank god. She thought. Setting Kenzie down by the door she hurried to the kitchen, she grabbed all the frozen milk she had left and the two tubs of formula that were in the pantry. Then without any hesitation she grabbed her baby and loaded everything in her car. She stared at the house for a moment before backing down the driveway with no agenda of ever going back.
