No Revolution

By candlelight in
An underground room, wine is
Drunk in good company,
With high spirits
And no worries.
– if you are here
For a revolution
Look elsewhere.
For Revolutions are not
Made in secret.
They are not whispered,
But rather shouted,
In the streets,
On rooftops.
Revolutions are meant
To scare.
Not children
Into crying to sleep.
But the morally guilty
Into Trembling
     With fear.
Revolutions
Are meant to inspire
The Day worker,
The mother,
The artist.
Revolutions are not meant
For the dreamer.
But the doer.
Revolutions
Are meant
To cast those with
Abusive powers
Into doubt
And self questioning.
For revolutions
Are best served
Without cake.
