The Wise Guy
My date asked me...did I
ever go to school any
I told her oh yeah honey I have
been going to school a long time
I've got 2 or 3 Master's Degrees
from the schools I have went too
I know a whole lot of other stuff
I have learned here and there
I know some real cool tricks I
caught on to as time went by
I catch on to things pretty quick
honey you ain't never gonna see
a better educated man than me
you may not think I am wise
I just about know it all

we never reach a point where we learn all we need to know

I thank you yeah this I came up with while I was writing some other poems I sort of pieced it together and it is really I intended what you learn in a lifetime of hard knocks and prison and several other schools of life not a few years of a school the state has to put you through...but personally and actually I wouldn't want to know it all and glad to hear from you once again...fox
Well put. While one certainly might not want to "know it all," (and one certainly doesn't want to be a "know it all"), as individual human beings I do think it's our responsibility to attempt to understand as much as we can, and to attempt to be as aware as we can.
Idealy, awareness, understanding, and knowledge, in combination with empathy, will make a well rounded compassion.

hi i thank you very much yes I guess I did write this about me sub consciously and it fits although I don't really have a school education I never wrote any poems until I was in prison for selling pot I was in my 40s and I had seen a lot by then and of course I have never stopped looking for something to learn it seems to me yeah we must not stop trying to learn more cause that is the only way we will kn ow anything about our world my best wishes
