The King's Conquest (Ending 5 of 5)

SOUTH QUEENSFERRY

Peace At last

Anna turned off the shower knob. She slid the glass shower door back and stepped out the shower. She lifted a fluffy towel from off the towel bar and wrapped it around herself.

Palos took a swig of his Brandy. He was pissed a woman who he cared nothing about is now roaming in his home. He was ready to marry Sephora, today if all possible, and began living a life as man and wife. Making love to her nightly in the attempt to get heirs on this earth.

Anna walked down the stairwell. She joined Palos in the living room.

“Would you like something to eat?”

Palos turned around.

The lacy back camisole Anna wore held his eyes.

“Anna, you cannot stay here.”

“Nonsense, it’s late, and all the hotels are booked. I was told there is an annual event at some castle. Would you like me to cook you something, if not. I guess I will dine alone.”

“Do as you wish I will be upstairs changing. I have to go out for a while.”

“Good, then we could grab something to eat in town.”

“No, I will be going out, alone.”

Palos walked to the stairwell. Someone rang his doorbell.

“Dammit.”

He walked over to the door and opened it.

“Sephora.”

Palos stepped outside the door and pulled it close.

“I thought we were meeting later on.”

“I had an errand to run and your residence was on the way. Are you going to invite me in?”

“Palos who’s at the door.”

Sephora pushed the door open wider and stepped into Palos’ residence. Her eyes darted to Anna and then back at Palos.

“I see why you postponed.”

“Palos what is this woman doing here at your door. No, why is she in Scotland with you? There is some unfinished business between us.”

“Yes Palos, why is this woman in Scotland, in your home, and wearing cheap lingerie.”

“Why you bitch.”

“It takes one to know one.” Sephora looked up into Palos’ eyes. “You have less than a minute to explain this.”

Anna walked over to where Palos and Sephora stood.

“I was invited by Palos.”

Palos looked over at Anna.

“What the fuck are you taking about?”

“Tell her about us, Palos.”

Palos looked down into Anna’s eyes.

“There is no us. The woman I love is Sephora.”

Anna walked around Palos’ living room touching his personal things.

“You called out to me in your dreams, Palos.” She rubbed her finger over the blade of a sword hanging on the wall. “You were mortified to remain alone from loving a woman you never could have, in a past lifetime.” Anna turned around and looked across the room; she found Palos’ eyes. “Or this lifetime.”

“What the fuck are you talking about!”

Anna looked over at Sephora.

“Tell him.”

“Woman you are mentally deranged.”

“Am I? Queen Sephora?”

“Leave now before I call the cops on you,” Palos issued.

“Hum, let’s see here, oh, you can’t call the authorities on a person who does not even exist.”

Anna laughed a bloodcurdling laugh. She then darted her eyes in Sephora’s direction.

“Tell him how the line of your unborn descendant changed the course of history,” she hissed at Sephora.

“What the hell are you talking about? I think you really need some help.”

“Tell him about that great news you never got to share.”

“I think it is a great day for the king and me to share a picnic on the beautiful landscaped grounds. There is good news to be shared among the royal house. Please have the kitchen staff to prepare an intimate picnic, with a bottle of French wine.”

Words of yesterday ringed out in Sephora sub-conscious. She rubbed over her stomach in remembrance.

“Yes, you were expecting a male heir, however it was not of noble blood.”

“Are you saying Queen Sephora was pregnant by?”

Anna looked over at Palos.

“Yes, by the Duke of Cromwell.”

“That’s absurd. That information would have been exposed centuries ago.”

“It would have been an embarrassment to the monarch had it been.”

“And how did you come about this information?”

“I listened in while the king’s doctor gave Queen Sephora the news that day, prior to me pushing her down those flight of steps.”

“You? Then that would make you.”

“A restless misguided spirit; guilty of sin from a previous lifetime, only to be haunted in this lifetime.” Anna looked over at Sephora. “My soul has been granted time to atone.”

“Lady, I do not know what shit you have ingested, snorted, or shot up in your arm, but you have to get the fuck out of here,” Palos demanded.

Sephora turned to face Anna.

“And before you go. I am not Queen Sephora, and if I was. I never once suspected I carried another’s man baby in my womb. In my mind; I was lead to believe the baby I carried was my husband’s heir to the throne. I would have loved the king until my last dying breath.”

”Unfortunately, you did love him until your last dying breath.”

Palos found Anna’s eyes.

“You were responsible for the queen’s death, and all this fucking time it has been documented she had an unfortunate fall down a winding stairwell.”

“And she did, with a little assistance of course. And yes, you are the reincarnation of Queen Sephora. You somehow escaped though a portal in time as you laid at the bottom of those concrete steps. However, your nomadic soul was finally freed once you died a second death days ago.”

Palos grabbed onto Sephora’s hand and gently squeezed it.

Anna looked from Palos, and then at Sephora.

“The truth has been spoken. You two will live a long prosperous life, and produce heirs to go on to become greatness in all they inspire to be.”

”I do not understand this, you, this deranged woman.” Sephora palmed her forehead. “Palos, I need to sit down.”

“Sure thing baby.”

Palos assisted Sephora over to the couch to sit down.

“And you can...” Palos turned around. He looked around his home.

Anna was nowhere to be found.

Palos ran over to the door and looked out. No person’s presence was accounted for. He looked up. A dove in flight flew toward the fading sunset.

Palos slammed the door close, and then locked it. He joined Sephora on the couch.

“This…” Palos rubbed his hand back through his hair. “What the fuck just happened here?”

“I cannot understand it. Baby, if what was told to us. Queen Sephora was carrying another man’s baby while she was married.”

“If my memory serves me correctly. Queen Sephora just found out the day she was killed she was pregnant. In those days, there was not a reliable timetable to estimate when someone conceived. In Queen Sephora’s mind, the baby she created in her womb was King Javiah’s heir.”

“If I was indeed the reincarnation of Queen Sephora does that make me a bad woman?”

“If it was Sir Pious’ heir, hell no. I stake my last breath that heir was made out of love.”

“I hate to admit it, but if it was Sir Pious’ heir. It was definitely made out of love.”

“I love you Sephora, Queen Sephora, the love of my life.”

“I love you also Palos, Sir Pious, the love of my life.”

“Maybe we should work on those vows more under the covers.”

“They do say practice makes perfect.”

Palos stood up. He scooped Sephora up in his arms, and rushed to the stairwell.

The telephone rang.

“Shit!”

Palos steadied Sephora on her feet. He hurried over to the telephone on the table. He lifted the receiver from out the cradle and placed it up to his ear.

“Yeah.”

“Good evening, this is Mr. Chalk, may I have the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Knight.”

“You got him.”

“Great news. You and a woman of your choice have won the King and Queen Wanderlust week.”

Palos looked over at Sephora.

“You don’t say.”

“You may chose to remain in Scotland, or England.”

“I think England will be a great destination for a king and his queen’s honeymoon.”

“I will call you sometime tomorrow with details, regarding, the reservations, flight, and a complimentary rented vehicle will be agreed upon. Once again, thank you for choosing Sunshine Travels for your vacation.”

“Yeah.”

Both men hung up their end of their conversation.

Palos walked over to where Sephora waited.

He lifted her up in his arms. His foot mounted the first step.

“Who was the caller?”

“Baby, we won the king and queen wanderlust vacation package. We will be spending our honeymoon in England.”

“I would love that.”

“I love you so much, and so that you know, that woman, ghost from the past, whatever you wish to refer her too, stopped over my residence, and placed me in an awkward situation.”

“I once told you, there will be a time, when you have to set all logical reasoning aside, and just go with you inner feelings.”

“That I see, or should I say, have witnessed.”

Palos kissed Sephora’s lips. He walked in the direction of his bedroom.

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
Three Years Later
Wedding Anniversary

Palos’ two year old son cast his fishing line in the lake.

Sephora set the table for a picnic. She looked over the vast estate grounds of Groveland; she then looked down at the wedding set on her finger. She was still pleased to this day she made the right decision to marry Palos. She lifted her head.

Palos caught Sephora’s eyes and winked at her.

Sephora blushed.

Palos turned his attention back to his son; who was now jumping up and down as he reeled in his third fish.

“Look dad, another one.”

“You are getting quite good at this little man.”

Pious removed the swarming fish from off the hook and tossed it inside the bucket along with the others.

“Dad, is mother going to cook my fishes today.”

“No. In this family son, you clean and cook what you catch.”

“But I don’t know how.”

“Not to worry son, you will be taught today.”

Palos rubbed over his son’s jet-black waves.

“Okay handsome men. The table is set.”

Palos and Pious positioned their fishing poles on a fishing pole uprooted holder, and walked over to the picnic covered table.

Palos looked down at the spread of food.

“I see the comely lass has been at work.”

Palos leaned over and kissed Sephora on her lips.

Both inched their face back.

“I hope you two enjoy this feast.”

“You know I always enjoy anything you give me, or do to me. Happy Anniversary beautiful.”

“Happy Anniversary, handsome.”

Both kissed and then inched back.

“I love you too mother.”

Sephora leaned down and kissed her son on top of his forehead.

“Back at you handsome.”  Sephora looked from father to son. “Now before you gentlemen get comfortable at the comely lass’ picnic table; handwashing is strongly recommended.”

“Anything for you.”

Palos leaned over and kissed Sephora’s lips again, much slower. He stepped back and caressed her cheek.

Palos and Pious walked in the direction of Groveland Castle.

Sephora looked up towards the heavens.

“Thank you.”
