"1972"

1972

Life in 1972 was better than today
The Sun shone brighter and came out on time
The rain would stay away
And "my things" weren't wholly just mine...

Music too was better by far
There was no pressure in growing up
We could play for hours in the local park
And we ALWAYS knew when to shut up!!!

Children had respect for their parents
There was absolutely no talking back
Parents never gave in the way they do now
Todays parents are incredibly slack...

In 1972 we played football
Not one of my friends were fat?
We ran all day, climbed trees all night
No console around where we sat.

I remember going out with and old rag
To the stream to catch a few trout
Nowadays kids wouldn't know what to do
And the little ones? Well they want for now't.

School was a much better experience too
Teachers, they had a bit clout
They could handle their classrooms much better,
All it took was an almighty shout!

No technology to destroy our youth
No fancy clothes on our backs
We ate every night at 6pm
And ate proper food by the sacks...

Our clothes were passed down from our brothers,
Their shoes we got when they grew,
No one was different when I grew up
Way back in 1972.

So you can keep your mobile phones
And you can keep your computers too
Facebook, Twitter and all that stuff
Are all false where nothing is true..

We build our very own go carts
We spent entire days on our bikes
Was a magical time to grow up
That's what 1972 was like....
