This Symphony

I close my eyes and breathe
The voice tells me to let it all go now
I made it here, I made it this far
A cause for celebration
Although each moment seems so certain
It is really an unknown quantity for all of us

So be here, rest a while
For this is not promised
That you can breathe
Minutes pass in breathing
And then the first note chimes

The symphony begins

A pinprick of light begins to form in my chest
It begins to fill my body
I want to rest here forever
The grandure of all the things I can have
Don't fill me like the this speck of light expanding outwards
It is my connection in the midst of being alone
It is my song in the midst of silence

My symphony

I imagine this light eventually filling the whole world
The song rises and all rests in peace and happieness
Spellbound
At the song rising from my soul
Not real, this image
But maybe someone out there still can feel the waves
In this I am one
And in this I sing

For all

And then the symphony fades
And I return
To work, to life, to words, to calls
To noise so far apart
To noise so unconnected
To noise so far from music
The every day soundtrack
Which is no sound at all

Until I return to the silence wherein echoes the symphony
Connection is peace, peace is the end of longing
And the end of longing is the beginning of love

So I connect to all I love
In minutes where I sit and breathe
The mind is not constrained by humble reality
Any more than the soul is constrained by that which tries to tear it down

For in me, there sleeps
What makes the whole world become one
In each of us there is this song

This symphony

Author's Note
The inspiration for this poem is a meditation technique I learned from an app where you imagine a speck of light originating in your chest expanding outwards until you can't imagine it expanding any further. That and my decision to use my computer more to connect to people and do things which may bring them a tiny little bit of joy, mainly by giving feedback to the arts I love (poetry, music and painting). It is not much, but I know how delighted I am when I get some feedback, and I hope to give other people the same feeling by giving feedback myself.
