Utmost sorrow

As the darkest dawn grows so ever closer  
As the end of days is within one's sight  
The devil beckons for you to continue  
But the inner demons are so hard to fight  

Your mind and soul was crushed completely  
Your heart and dreams are never found  
The curtain opens but the moment's over  
The hope inside is not around  
 
One's fear locks the metal shackles  
One's sorrow keeps the cell sealed shut  
You try and break the toughest barrier  
But what you do, is never enough  
 
A window is only open for so long  
A path is only intact for a time  
The walk you take to remember  
As you look at the stars for a sign  
 
Some things can change the whole world

But one mistake can send you down deeper  
Digging for diamonds not coal from the quarry  
 
Why am I just so afraid
