Left behind

My red vehicle, a beautiful vibrant machine amongst the autumn colors.  Just a way to get me from one place to another. I escape the confines to let my footsteps wander fearlessly through changing leaves. There are no clear paths, just open areas, fields in wait of new footprints.  An old home caught my attention.  Clearly vacant and overgrown with trees and vines, I was mesmerized by her stoic intent to remain. Only able to get so close, I wandered the perimeter.  Her windows were open, vacant holes into a past I could only imagine. None were reachable.  At some point I wish to think it was filled with love and happy children running with laughter through empty rooms. There was no bad energy surrounding her, which only peeked my curiosity, as to why she was abandoned.  Her walls were strong as far as I could tell.  Pale yellow, a backdrop to green vines and shrubs turning red leafed in the cooler autumn temps, and golden grasses looming against her foundations.  Slowly I made my way around her, taking in her quiet beauty. The only sounds were the slight breeze that forced leaves to brush against her lovingly.  A calmness surrounded her unkempt landscape.  Nature was finding her way inside through unseen crevasses.  An upstairs window was filled with a curtain of red twisted vines, breathing new life into empty rooms. Her two stories holding unknown secrets. Spaces that appeared to be completely empty, but sure to hold interesting tales, of past lives. Fingerprints on pale walls, last remnants of energy bouncing along her empty corridors.
