Winters Lost

Today I saw your pictures. Oh, the memories. I took steps back until I fell into the river, and away it carried me. But I wanted to stay and relive the happiness you brought me all those years ago. Something died in me that winter when you said it was over. The memory remains frozen in place, unchanged. Here I am now, so far away from you, stagnate. I still remember your voice in my ear, and there it lingers, well-tuned, the sweetest music. The howl of that winter’s hell can sometimes overcome it; however, I refuse to allow your music to perish! I miss you. Sure, I’ve moved on, but nothing compares to that time we shared, all those winters ago.
