The Friends Complaint

In all the worlds
Different scriptures
They declare that God
Lives in the temples
He has made.
The ones we call
The human body.

The Friend has said,
"The children of the world
Have de-throned me
And placed me in the temples,
Churches, and mosques
They have made."

The Friend says,

"I am the light within them -
But they just light candles
Outside."

Is it not written -
Take heed that the light
Within you is not darkness.

Dearest Pilgrim,

The Friend asks,
"When I truly reside
Within you -
Why have you
Forgotten me?"
