Senescence

            Aged, darkened, terra cotta
                  outlines the depth,
                      of reds, yellows
                          and  blues

           Autumn's russet foliage, the
              amber tannins that swirl
                 Into homespun  gold
                    it's smooth swift
                     dance like rich
                           oils on
                           canvas

           Celosia in her warm orange
                and burgundy creep
                   through various
                      shades of the
                           season

           welcoming  Chrysanthemums
               red velvet and  ivory face
                       laced with pale
                          tenderness

           Senescence repeated, rebirth
                    death, life and decay
                        permeate the air
                       with  musk
                          under a
        solstice
