Stirrings
A stirring
Like the first gentle pull
At the turn of the tide
Purposes forgotten
As you touch my heart
Just the thought of you
Like a whisper
Over the still pool of my soul
And warmth ripples forth
Awakening the heart's strongest beat
For you
Who I've never known before
- But somehow
Now
Have always known
As if hope and dreams had coalesced
Into all that's true and best
And you
By some unspoken intuition
Stepped forth
Alive as a new day's dawning
Eyes dancing above your smile
And mine cannot help but gaze
As you take my breath away
You're beautiful
And your beauty has its way with me
As if a dancer's grace
Or the song of a nightingale
In form encased
Your hand
So small
Yet so fitting within my own
As I raise to touch it with a kiss
And view your eyes'
Steady reply to mine
For do the eyes not speak that which needs no words
And does their answer not echo within my own
Then kiss me in truth
Conventions forgotten
Passion's blaze has no need of reason
When love's truth has brought us close
And I have no need but you
Like the first gentle pull
At the turn of the tide
Purposes forgotten
As you touch my heart
Just the thought of you
Like a whisper
Over the still pool of my soul
And warmth ripples forth
Awakening the heart's strongest beat
For you
Who I've never known before
- But somehow
Now
Have always known
As if hope and dreams had coalesced
Into all that's true and best
And you
By some unspoken intuition
Stepped forth
Alive as a new day's dawning
Eyes dancing above your smile
And mine cannot help but gaze
As you take my breath away
You're beautiful
And your beauty has its way with me
As if a dancer's grace
Or the song of a nightingale
In form encased

Yet so fitting within my own
As I raise to touch it with a kiss
And view your eyes'

For do the eyes not speak that which needs no words
And does their answer not echo within my own
