Inertia
I still dream of you
I see your smiles - dancing
with your eyes.
Hand in hand,
spun diamonds have never
twirled so slow.
I still hear your voice
I see your lips
upturned. Echoes of
laughter a moment away.
Honeyed words, I wonder
Were they ever so soft?
Sounds I could never even stutter.
I still feel your hands
No, every featherlight touch
Fingertips traced - skating
along the glass.
Beautiful,
unbroken glow of her.
I still feel love
The frail thread of a doomed heart,
Sharp and bright
White-hot incisions of youth.
I still feel the slow aching of us,
and wonder.
Have these memories started to unfocus now?
The mourning of a time long gone
The words I'll never remember again
The shape of you.
