tomorrows

there is speak of tomorrows,
of no regrets,
of peace, promise, perseverance
pilgrimage and purity
of the great unknown and known

does one
hold out hope for these tomorrows?
I think or I think not

I breath
I am here

today

pinned to your bed of nails
with my thorny crown
piercing a skull of wisdom
or lack there of

my body bleeds,
a blood of misery
missteps and mistakes

I clutch,
to no excuses
nor fear
from these failings
still
I am further away from the righteous path
than one would ever dream

and man do i dream

of princesses and unicorns
dancing with daisies
a breeze in the clear blue sky
before being buried
and left to die

see I see tomorrow
but will tommorow ever see me?

so therefore I say
send me your dragon
your demons, your undue destiny
for me to slay

grant to me these cravings
that chew on the skin of life

I, a man
imperfect, scarred
but not scared
of tomorrow left alone
without the challenge of today
