Another Step Towards Ruin

let me paint you a picture. Vicente is a cuban immigrant that landed here in the 70s speaking only Spanish as a 26 y/o adult. He gets a job as a fry cook but also works weekends at the butcher shop. He rents for about five years before he's accumulated enough wealth in order to buy his first home. It takes about ten years for him to pay this off. Its 1985 by this point. He decides to invest in a property in order to make revolving income. It takes him another five years to acquire this home. At this point he speaks full English and Spanish, is working at a realty firm and is making a way for himself separate from formal education. He's receiving 1000 dollars monthly from his old home that he now uses to pay his mortgage. It takes him abput the same time to pay this home off, though it is more expensive. Its year 2000 and he is 56 y/o. The economy is dwindling so he decides to buy one more home. He pays this home off by year 2015, now making 2000 a month solely on rent payments while. His expenses are low since ge owns all of his properties and owes nothing o. Any of them. At 66, he needs this income in order to pay his medical bills that, surprise surprise, most of his Medicare doesn't cover. He's got heart issues that caused an MI last year that cost him more than his insurance even covered for open heart surgery. Despite this, he still manages to be able to keep his lights on, pay property taxes on each property at the end of the year, and pay his extensive medical bills. He's invested enough to live comfortably on social security and wages from his income properties. Year 2020 rolls around. Whats this guy supposed to do about his medical bills, about feeding himself? Who can live off of 2000 a month, you ask. Well im sure everyone here knows that ain't shit, and this is a best case scenario for the small business owner. Vicente might have a daughter that's always needing financial assistance, or a wife that never worked and is ill all of the time. You think renters are little demons out to make a buck, but thats like demonizing your neighbor for opening up an auto shop and having the audacity to charge people. I know many renters in my family and friend circles. They're not swimming in riches. They're just looking for a way to retire in a place where there is no assistance after you've lost your worth in a working society. Prove me wrong.

I live in Canada. Best of all:  I don't have to go bankrupt to get medical care. It is SOCIAL med.  Never happen in the US of course where GREED leads.  The filthy rich will never lose.  The poor sucker will.  Everywhere it is the same, but at least we have a bit of SOCIAL conscience which makes things a bit more bearable.

Dont get me started on US pharmacy and the greed that circulates in Healthcare. I get to see first hand in the hospital and in HH. I see how these people live under the "coverage" provided by the government. Unfortunately, the people here will never go for universal Healthcare. Despite the fact that every other developed country has accomplished this.
