The Journey

She forever dances in the in-between
pirouettes so lightly along cliff edges
Thrives radiant in the time between times
walks in both sun and shadow with ease
Respecting, thanking All who listen

He speaks in song-language ancient
Fire, revenge, yearning in his blood
pained, broken, penitent from afar
This soldier fought for love of ideal
For land so green, for denied liberty

Her path her own, she walks content
until they meet at a dark crossroad
Trying to warn, or to frighten - who knew?
Attempting to change her destined path
foretelling with words to break her faith

She falls back, then tries to move on
Yet relentless, he refuses to let her pass
Sight obstructed and words weaponized
a certain death of a thousand tiny cuts
of mutual friendship, lines now drawn

She knew well they were both to blame
Still, all they know favor his position
A temper so rarely lost, she now falls silent
Words will go unheard, so why bother speak?
To move forward, she will accept too much

She still walks, her precious secret safe
The cliffs' edge will never let her fall
forever secure in all in-between
Yet now she dances in sun and shadow
to her own path, a Journey lies ahead

All existence is handiwork of the One
From the One springs forth All
Only souls are capable of understanding
To be in between Above and Below
is to live in service to the One who is All

Author's Note
After discovering my daughter's sexual abuse at the hands of her best friend, yet unable to get justice or even protection from either my community (who wanted me to keep it quiet - I refused to do so) or the government (because of their ages - both girls are under 16), I turned to seek comfort in the faith I had as a teenager (Druidry), and to try to move on, I started to practice these ways alongside my Judaism while also starting study in alternative medicine. An acquaintance from Ireland felt the need to insist that studying herbalism isn't Druidcraft (obviously) and that I had to give it up since I observe Judaism - that it had to be one of the other. I maintain that my Journey is my own. The conflict is described above.
