Waiting for the Othered Shoe to Drop

Sympathy
is abundant
from one mobbed
to another

So one has a shoe
on her head
...she says

Like an old
leather meal

for the desperate
denied and
othered souls

she holds in her mind
a sign she is kind

as she attempts
to span a large
divide

in the Great
Conversation

It is hard to hold
a balance

Between liberty
and sympathy

But once before
it was done

by literally
everyone

There was once
a place and
a time when

freedom
and prosperity

meant there was
no soul sleeping
in the street

and private
charity

was too well
stocked and robust
for the State to beat

Yes, we should
set all the poor
down to eat

Give them a shelter
Protective clothing
a place to sleep

When she reads this
I hope that old
othered shoe

will finally drop!
