A Smile in the Mirror
If I stare in the double mirror long enough,
There’s an anomaly in the limitless reflections,
And upon closer inspection into infinity,
One of me has a different inflection…
What lies behind these eyes is more than just perception,
A vision of what was and what will be of my own conception,
The image in front of me is just a representation of my mind,
But the figure is without shape or form and somehow confined.
Underneath it all is what I call the other worldly spirit,
Talking to me in dreams when I’m careful enough to hear it,
Every once in a while it comes to me in a smile in the mirror,
Frighteningly obscure when the appearance comes nearer.
I don’t fear it, regardless of size or darkness when I see it,
The soul leaves this body only when death can free it,
But the imagination runs wild with a convulsive twitch,
When from time to time the eye captures a concrete glitch,
There’s an anomaly in the limitless reflections,
And upon closer inspection into infinity,
One of me has a different inflection…
What lies behind these eyes is more than just perception,
A vision of what was and what will be of my own conception,
