Morning Breaks
Morning breaks
Softly
Cool
Before the heat of the day
As birds sing in the stillness
Their silvery songs
Dancing above
The grass pearled with dew
Lies in shadows
The sun not yet topping the trees
Save here and there
Shafts of golden beams
As the sky blues
Night fleeing
The rosey blush of Dawn
And I
I think of you
Whose beauty matches the morn
And long to see the sun's golden glow
Bathe your skin
As light and shadow play
And wish that you would wake to me
Eyes still fresh from dreams
For I would see my dream awake
And true
For what beauty remains the day
If I don't have you
Softly
Cool
Before the heat of the day
As birds sing in the stillness
Their silvery songs
Dancing above
The grass pearled with dew
Lies in shadows
The sun not yet topping the trees
Save here and there
Shafts of golden beams
As the sky blues
Night fleeing
The rosey blush of Dawn
And I
I think of you
Whose beauty matches the morn
And long to see the sun's golden glow
Bathe your skin
As light and shadow play
And wish that you would wake to me
Eyes still fresh from dreams
For I would see my dream awake
And true
For what beauty remains the day
If I don't have you
