Painting Your Moods
Mountains make me wish
I could fly
seashores make me wonder
where we might sail away to
and you - painted beautiful
sketch smiles in my sky
But you don't always
look your best
sometimes you're painted
early morning ugly
dark hungover breath
screaming don't touch
hopping around on one leg
in a scramble for lost underwear
and ten minutes to get your bus
...those times
I'd rather not paint you at all
it's better to hide the brushes
until...
Good news lights you up
and turns your smile
on to dazzle mode
there's no stopping you then
but when it's bad news
your face cracks into tears
painting sobs on your heart
and colours stream
into rivers of sad
that you wear
for all the world to see
so I paint my arm around you
and add a hug
or three
