Playing pretend

"No you have to knock to wake me up"

"It resets the day"

Hoping they never forget or grow up

My neices, playing house

Creativity to spare with imagination abundant.

I watch them grow as I once did

There's a thought in my mind

I cling to it tight like a kite hugging the wind, never wanting to let go.

That one day she will knock to wake me up

I hope I haven't lost it.

How foreign a thing, to become an adult.

I shudder at the thought as I enter my room.

They knock...

And I smile

It resets the day ❤

Author's Note
I wrote this during the 4th of July fireworks my nieces were inside because they'd rather play house then see all the fireworks and that made me happy
