So beautiful. I love the idea of that type of warmth and safety and all the tender emotion and passion that can emerge from it. Also I agree with Gahddess_Worship on the first stanza being phenomenal. It really is. Love the second one too. Great poem all around.

There was a time when an Angel heard of the day, that somewhere on Earth there was born a little girl with a halo and a tiny pair of wings. None of the mortals could see them so they had no idea of the wonderful child they had. The Angel knew this little girl was his lover who went missing from chorus heaven and decided to visit the Earth to find her.
He followed his heart and the girl was located, now a grown woman yet far from the vision of serenity he was familiar with. Instead, he found a monster of rage and resentment, lashing out at all who tried to approach her. Through tear drenched eyes he saw what the world had done to his beloved, so badly treated and hurt her halo was bent out of shape, her wings broken and tattered.
He watched as men tried to get close, offering their hands of support and she'd chase them away. The Angel knew that somewhere inside the monster was a delicate loving being hiding from the cruelty of the world, a being of radiant beauty and a level of passion that could render mountains to rubble. As the monster lashed and roared, he could see inside its chest was a cage, inside that cage was the lover he came to find, battered and bruised, her fragile skin covered in weeping cuts and grazes. The Angel's heart ached as he knew it was a mortal man who put her inside that self imposed prison, locking herself away and creating a beast to protect what remained of her spirit from all who would cause her any more harm.
Mortal men were thrashed aside yet the Angel walked up to the beast and took every blow, struck down time and time again yet refusing to give in. the closer he got the weaker the beast became until he finally touched her cheek. The Monster roared and fell to her knees inside the warm embrace of the Angel, and the beast faded away. The cage fell apart and mortal men saw what they had done as they looked upon the Angel they had forced into her self contained confinement.
The Angel kissed her, the bruised faded, her cuts healed and her skin began to glow once again as it always used to. For the first time in what seemed like an eternity, the broken young woman was able to smile once again, and the Angel who came to find her was reunited with his eternal beloved.

Sorry, got carried away again. But, reading this poem made me see what I described.

If there's a new man in your life then I sincerely hope he's the Angel you deserve.
