van Gogh
Of the stars and nights
Circling into
Yellow and circular more
Twist roll out to blues
That twist the black hope
And steeple
Of the people
That would shudder to think
He walked among them
And would dream this
And see it into stroke
Deliver the back break
And gold fields
Of wheat
To the edging black wings
They edge the pickers
They weigh their burden
And carry into
Sudden night
To see a man
As he sees himself
And cannot hear
the left of himself
Or see the right of it
And a red haired madman
Holds our discomfort
And the utter
Beauty of it
Bristles through
With raving disclosures
Bristles splayed blue and black
Much as if the bruises to
An unowned sanity
And his fear of going unnoticed
But oh the irony
Of the insane existence
Of genius
And it’s departure
Of color
And it’s carry on
Through spirit
And inspiration
Wherever it is found
It has been proven
More formidable than death
A formidable opponent
Indeed
Circling into

My uncle gave me an biography of his when I was 8 and he was the first artist I really fell in love with. I would love to have seen what you did. I’ve seen a couple of his pieces in museums and found myself in tears

Your words here do more than paint. They are as brilliant in poetic form as his art was on canvas. Lines like “And steeple of people” and “to the edging of black wings, they edge the pickers” and “much as if the bruises to an unowned sanity” capture his flights of fancy with imagery that puts him into his painting as more than an artist but a living breathing man within the colors of his brushstrokes. Interesting side note he painted “Starry Night” while looking out the window of an insane asylum, where he was a patient, at the stars. Thank for sharing this masterpiece my darling. You are the poet priestess of all my dreams.

Beautiful and excellent tribute to Van Gogh. I loved the way you threw us right into a painting from the get tol describing the emotion, dizzy and twirling. He was a tormented and tortured individual and he poured it into his work.
Good luck in the comp.
