A Prayer

I prayed one night
Beside my bed -
A prayer so long and deep -
For God to hear
My anguished cries
To take a mortal leap.

Where are you Lord?
Do you exist?
Are you really everywhere?
Where is your land?
Where is your house?
Do you really answer prayer?

If you be real
Let me behold
The beauty of your face,
Your sparkling eyes,
Your lovely smile,
Your countenance so rare.
I'll love you God -
If you exist,
Just let me know your there.

The tears rolled down
From out my eyes
I shivered in my fright -
Oh Lord I need to know you
Where do you reside this night?

God did appear that very year
Within the form of man -
His living Saint He sent that day
To teach me to understand.

To save me when I was drowning
In the five most deadly sins,
And place me on a new course
That always looks within.

To initiate this nothing
With God's five sacred keys -
To see His lights,
To hear His sounds
Within the heart of me.

Each day in meditation
My soul is carried home
By His resonating sound
And light.
Never more to roam.
